Over the last few weeks we have been doing an author study on Mo Willems. We discovered that Mo is a humorous author. His Gerald and Piggie books are just as funny as his Pigeon books. Gerald is an extremely moody character. As an illustrator, Mo pays special attention to Gerald's facial expressions. In his Pigeon books, Mo makes the pigeon beg the reader for something he wants. The pigeon begs for hot dogs, to stay up late and to drive the bus. In order to portray the pigeon's different moods, Mo makes changes to his eyes and body. Checkout some of our original pigeon drawings...

We all know how to draw a basic pigeon-we'd love to teach you!!! Don't forget to add your own personal touches!

Dear Mrs. Rowan's class,
ReplyDeleteWe loved your idea about drawing pigeons. After we do our author study about Mo Willems, can we use your good idea and draw pigeons too?
Sincerely,
Mrs. Anderson's class
